Hello Truax Family: (from Mary on 11/3/04)

Our reunion is fast approaching. Everyone has his or her flight arrangements. I have put together a loose itinerary to give everyone an idea of the social activities and cost of the reunion.

COST:

• Lodging is $265 per family  /  includes everything.
• Meals are $35 per family  /  covers the BBQ on Saturday and the tamales on Friday.
  • There will probably be extra items if you or your kids want something different than what is being served
  • The B&B has breakfast items and we will too
  • We have lots of beer already out there. We will get some wine or bring what you like. We have liquor too.
  • There is a grocery store nearby that is small but usually you can find what you need.
  • Frap and I will spring for the Wednesday and Thanksgiving meal.
• Other costs: Horses.
  •  Mom and dad would like to treat us to the horseback riding event on Saturday (as their Christmas gift to each of us). The horses (12) arrive about 10:30am. We will go on a ride around our property and adjoining property for about an hour. It takes awhile to get everyone on the horses and off so that gets us to lunch about noon. We are having the BBQ then. After lunch we can go on another ride, let kids do pony rides or see what they will let us do. Kids under 8 cannot ride alone. They must ride with a parent. Pony rides in the yard with someone leading are different. They can go alone on those. I need to know who wants to ride and what kids want to ride too. Which kids want to double up and/or just do pony rides. Let me know what your level of experience is also. The horses range from experienced to you know what! The people leading the ride are a husband and wife team that is very nice.

Itinerary

Wednesday we all arrive. We will cook out steaks on the grill and visit.

Thursday there are lots of games to play, four wheelers, go-carts, skeet shooting, fishing, boating, hiking, sitting, talking, sleeping. We will have a light lunch of soup. Thanksgiving meal will be served around 5pm.

Friday is a free day. I am going to put together a “field trip” list. Shopping, Bush library at College Station, Washington on the Brazos, miniature horse farm, staying and hanging out at the farm to name a few. We will eat left over and a Mexican style meal for dinner.

Saturday is the horses. Lunch will be BBQ. Dinner will be left overs.

Sunday everyone leaves.

The weather can be very iffy. Last year it was so hot the first day and then dove into the 30’s for two days and warmed up. It can be mild too. Check the weather before coming.

Ian has graciously agreed to shoot some family pictures so we will have some memory. Remember to bring your camera too so we can keep up with candids.

I am planning on putting together a better itinerary and email it before hand or just give it to you all when you arrive. I found last year it was best to assign everyone duties so that you can relax when you want and know when and where to chip in. I will give you that when you get here.

We are all very excited that everyone is coming. It is so great we can all get together. I appreciate everyone’s effort to get here and hope you all have a safe trip.
